Benny Andersson
16 December 1946  Göran Bror Benny Andersson was born on 16 December 1946, in Vällingby, one of the suburbs to Stockholm.

At an age of six Benny got his first accordion and began playing. Both Benny's father and grandfather were intrested in music. When he was ten he began to play the piano.

Benny's father, Gösta, was an engineer and the thought was that Benny would become that too. He was thoroughly captivated by music and began the rock band "Hep Stars" in 1964.

Benny's first composition was "Sunny Girl", and it became a pretty big hit in Sweden.

After ABBA, he co-wrote the musical "Chess" with Sir Tim Rice and Björn. He's recorded three solo albums; "Klinga mina klockor" ('Ring my bells'), and "November 1989". He has written songs for Ainbusk, and produced a solo album for one of the girls in the group (Josefin Nilsson - "Shapes"). He has also been active, often playing with the folk group "Orsa Spelmän". In the early 90's he and Björn collaborated on another musical based upon Moberg's "Utvandrarna" [The Emigrants] which later became "Kristina från Duvemåla". 2000 he wrote the music to the film "Sånger från andra våningen", which became a big success. During 2001 he recorded the album "Benny Anderssons Orkester" ('B. A's orchestra'), to which Björn wrote the lyrics. In February Chess had première in Stockholm, this time in a Swedish version.

Is doing right now: Recording Chess, double album, in Swedish.
