Ring, Ring (Bara Du Slog En Signal) ABBA This was the song that ABBA was going to conquer the Swedish outtake for Eurovision Song Contest - Melodifestivalen - with in 1973. Björn, Benny and Stig went to Abba's island Viggsö during the Christmas and New Year to write a song for the Melodifestival. They had recieved an offer to participate in the outtakes with a song. Their idea about being at Melodifestivalen was to reach out for a bigger audience, beyond Sweden. They wrote Ring, Ring and Stikkan thought instantly that this was it! This was the winning melody! He said: - We wanted to do something poppy. Something that was modern. And come away from all this stiff performances with suits and long dresses. - Now it was about finding a good title. If you are aiming at an international schlager competition you have to aim at winning it. And then you have to have a title that can be interpreted in both Schweiz and Ireland.
